Bráulia Chieta — Tchianda, live

Bráulia Chieta is an Angolan dancer whose work is built around Tchianda, a dance tradition rooted in the south of Angola, carried by percussion, footwork and a repertoire of gestures passed on from one generation to the next.

Her performances bring that heritage into contemporary staging without flattening it: the costume, the rhythm and the vocabulary of the dance remain, framed for a theatre audience rather than a village square.

At Gala Africa Official she opens the cultural part of the evening, immediately after the official opening ceremony.
