Toty Sa'Med — Angolan soul, reimagined

Toty Sa'Med is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Luanda, based between Angola and Lisbon. His music sits where Afro-jazz and neo-soul meet the Angolan songbook, equally indebted to Bonga and Paulo Flores as to the soul tradition.

With the EP Ingombota he re-read classics of Angolan music in an intimate, stripped-back register, and his later albums have carried that writing onto larger stages across Africa and Europe.

At Gala Africa Official he performs live in Luanda, as one of the voices of the evening.
